Climb aboard the MV George Robinson

The Arthur River is unique to Tasmania, and the best way to see it is on the MV George Robinson - a beautiful old style steel craft fitted out with Tasmanian timber and brass.

The Arthur River is one of the State's seven major rivers, but it is the only one which is completely wild, having never been logged, dammed or had a hot fire through the rainforest for almost 650 years.

Our tour guides are all local people and they impart a wealth of knowledge on the plant life, the history of the area and of the Aboriginal tribes who once lived here.

"A Truly Tasmanian Experience"

With seating for 52, the ARTHUR RIVER CRUISES M.V. George Robinson comes alive with a large group. A party atmosphere inevitably builds, and the trouble makers all end up at the back. The famous return entertainment includes Australian poetry reading, or even didgeridoo lessons!

The cruise often sees platypus, kingfishers, or a host of other bird life, and their mighty sea eagles rarely miss out on a feed of fish. The sea eagles which we feed are completely wild and nest on the bank of the river. They have been fed tidbits from the vessel for 25 years and usually wait for us to come downstream for their daily treat.

Our guests can also treat themselves to some tasty morsels at one of Australia's most isolated restaurants, situated in the stunning rainforest. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, old world charm, natural beauty and local knowledge, a cruise on board the M.V. George Robinson is truly a Tasmanian experience to remember.
